April

Here is a poem to start off this month and this season from one of my favorite poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay

Spring

To what purpose, April, do you return again?
Beauty is not enough.
You can no longer quiet me with the redness
Of little leaves opening stickily
I know what I know.
The sun is hot on my neck as I observe
The spikes of the crocus.
The smell of the earth is good.
It is apparent that there is no death
But what does that signify?
Not only under the ground are the brains of men
Eaten by maggots.
Life in itself
Is nothing,
An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs.
It is not enough that yearly, down this hill,
April
Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.

It was 80 degrees here today; although I’m not a fan of the cold, I still not quite ready for summer yet. What I really love is cool, crisp weather. Autumn is my favorite season, Spring is next but all that new life babbling forward just throws my allergies into a tizzy. But really 80 is just too much for the beginning of April. I want to wear denim jackets and cute layering, merging my seasonal wardrobes together. I’m not sure if I’m ready to break out the tanks alone just yet. Well I’m sure those April showers are not going to be a disappointment this year, and it will cool down soon enough, but at least give me a few days of good fashion weather.

Anyway, here is a pic of me from Easter (also in a magnolia tree) with my lovely boyfriend.

Dress and cardigan: Torrid
