Classic Hollywood Glamor with Thomas Laine

With movies coming out like The Artist and My Week with Marilyn, we can’t seem to get enough of old school Hollywood Glamor. One of the easiest ways to add a touch of classic glamor to our everyday modern lives is through glittering jewels. I recently discovered Thomas Laine, who creates jewelery perfect for Oscar after parties or a night out with your friends.

Here are some of my favorite picks.

Although stunningly beautiful, these items can cost you a pretty penny. And if like me, you aren’t receiving an Oscar swag bag any time soon, here are my favorites for under $100.

Are you ready for your close up?

Making Passes at Girls Who Wear Glasses

Oh no! I once again I have to apologize for being a bad blogger. I seem to be suffering from a complete lack of motivation lately. On a lot of days I don’t want to do much of anything, even get out of bed. I’m stuck in such a rut; any tips on how you get out of this mood? I guess I just have to push myself to get things done; especially things I actually like doing, like blogging. One thing that has helped me in the past is making lists of just about everything to do in the day, right down to showering and eating lunch. That way even if I only get a little bit of stuff done, I still feel a sense of accomplishment and hopefully will be motivated to do more the next day.

Well since there has been a lack of new posts, I have quite a few outfit pics from the last two month piling up in my folders. Along with a few new purchases, I wanted to share with you my new glasses. I am wearing them in my last post, but I didn’t mention that I got them for FREE! Yes that’s right, FREEE, prescription and everything!

How did I get them for FREEEEEE you might ask, well I heard through the blogger grapevine about a wonderful website called that every once and awhile decides to be totally awesome and gives away FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE glasses. What’s the catch? There really honestly isn’t one. Just go to the website with your prescription ready pick out some glasses, pay for shipping and handling (which for me was about $11), and then voila glasses arrive about a week later. The only drawback is of course you can’t try them, and glasses can be a tricky thing in that area, but from what I’ve heard from other buyers is that their return policy is pretty good. I took the plunge and decided to get these Love brand tortoiseshell cat eye glasses. I especially love the little hearts in the corners.

I really could not be more happy with them, and have been reccomending the site to everyone. Really since they are FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE you have nothing to lose! Your best bet is to like them on facebook where you can be updated on all of there sales and wonderful coupon codes and get your own pair of FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE glasses!

Okay enough of the additional excited capslock e’s, onto the outfit.

Bags of Love Review

Recently I was contacted by Bags of Love, a UK company that makes bags, calendars, canvas prints, pillows, and a whole bunch of other cool things all from your pictures and ideas. They offered me a free gift of my choice to review. Being a fashion lover, I of course went straight over to the bags section and picked out the canvas Shopper Bag; and being a cat lover, I of course decided on a picture of my beautiful cat Marci.

When I received the bag I was so genuinely happy and excited, my mom laughed at me for yelling out “It’s my Marci bag!” when I opened it. Shipping was super quick; sometimes things I order from the UK can take over a month to get here, but it was probably took less than a week.

The bag is such nice quality; it is super strong and durable, making it perfect for shopping and travel, especially since I tend to pack a lot. I also loved that I was able to pick a color for the bag, making it even more personal. And the pink color just went perfect with my picture.

Everyone is seriously so jealous of this bag. Every time I wear it my mom cries that she wants one too, and we discuss what a celebrity diva Marci is that she is on her own bag! My boyfriend wants to get one for his mom with a picture of their dog, and my best friend didn’t even realize that it was my cat on the bag; she thought it was a model cat!

I’m pretty sure Marci approves of the bag too!

Overall I am very impressed with this Bag and Bags of Love, and I think many of their products would make such awesome, creative, personalized gifts. I would definitely recommend them and I thank them for giving me the opportunity to review one of their products.

Cut to the Chase

So my recent obsession is the shoe club, Shoe Dazzle. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s an online store which you sign up for, take a style test, and then shoes, bags, and jewelry sets are chosen for you every month based on your results. Every item is $39.95 and many are inspired by designer brands like L.A.M.B and Missoni. They also feature shoes designed by celebrities for charity, weekly special deals, and reward points for purchases. And in case you don’t see anything you don’t want, you can easily skip a month, hassle and commitment free.

I just signed up with Shoe Dazzle at the beginning of the month, and I am already hooked. Not only do I love their shoes, but their customer service is amazing. They are super friendly and their facebook page is filled with employees and happy customers ready to answer any questions or give advice within minutes of posting.

Since I am not a fan of super high heels, I was afraid that I wouldn’t find too many items that I liked. But I customized my showroom to list flats, wedges, and kitten heels; and I was really happy with the variety of these styles that they provided.

My first purchase was on a flat boot called Chase. I loved the riding boot look of these, and since I am not the biggest fan of brown, I thought the color would go great with a ton of outfits.

Here’s what I wore:

Outfit Stats:
Top: Fashion to Figure size 1x
Cami: NY & Company size XL
Jeans: Source of Wisdom via Torrid size 18
Necklace: Etsy Seller Enchanted Lockets
Ring: Etsy Seller Sweet as Candy
Earrings: Betsey Johnson via TJ Maxx
Shoes: Chase from Shoe Dazzle

Overall the shoes were very comfy, and I am very happy with them. My only complaint, and one that seems true for a lot of Shoe Dazzle shoes, is that they run a little small. They fit my size 8.5 foot, but they were a bit snug in the toe area. If you have a wider foot I would recommend going up half a size in the majority of their shoes (also they carry up to size 11).

So if you are interested in joining Shoe Dazzle I would definitely go for it. You can also just sign up and take the shoe quiz and see some styles with no commitment; you aren’t signed up for the monthly program until you make a purchase. Also, if you sign up using the link below you will receive 20% off your first purchase! Happy Day!

PS: This is my honest opinion, I was not paid or endorsed by Shoe Dazzle to write this post, nor am I part of their affiliate program. I paid for their services with my own money and I am a happy customer!

If I had a Money Tree: Fashion to Figure

Even though the temperatures are still broiling and my air conditioner is cranked up, I can’t help looking into the fashions that are slowly appearing for my favorite season, autumn. Okay the thought of wearing a sweater right now is actually making me sweat, but there are a lot of good seasonal transition pieces available too.

Today I was checking out the Fashion to Figure website for what they are offering for the cooler weather. If you have one of these stores near you I would definitely check them out; they carry clothes similar to Torrid but at a much cheaper price point. However if you are shopping online I would be a little wary since their sizing are not very consistent. Although I haven’t shopped with them in a few years, my in-store experiences have been filled with a lot of dressing room time, with some items running huge on me while in others I had to go up to a 3x. They do have a free return policy online though, so that is always good to keep in mind too.

I was really happy with the styles featured on their site for late summer/early fall. They have definitely increased their game in the casual/work wear department, while still keeping a lot of fun, clubby pieces too. In the past I have often felt that a lot of their items wear too junior’s department and the went a little overboard on the animal print (and trust me I love leopard). But I was surprised too see a more grown up feel to their pieces, while still adding a little bit of edge. There were just so many things I was adding to my wishlist, I thought it might be time to be planting my money tree!

Here’s what I’m loving right now…

fashion to figure

My main squeeze is that Matte Sateen Tunic Dress, the color is so perfect for the seasonal transition and it is simple enough that it can be dressed up or down in a million different ways. I also can’t get over that “mullet style” color block maxi dress; it’s a very chic look that I wasn’t expecting from Fashion to Figure. And how cute is that herringbone poncho coat, it’s something I normally wouldn’t go for, but I am just drawn to the floral print on the shoulders.

So what are you looking forward to in fall fashions? Have you ever shopped Fashion to Figure before, what were you experiences? Are you ready to transition from summer to fall?

Caught my Eye Friday

Here are some cool things that caught my eye from around the web.

Totally drooling over the art of Rubens Cantuni. These plump, japanese inspired beauties seem to love all of my favorite things: tattoos, bunnies, candy, and all things cute!

I was feeling super depressed the other day, and then I ran across this video of a Mariachi band serenading a baby beluga and I couldn’t help but smile.

It seems like every week Hello Kitty comes out with something new, amazing, and adorable that I need to spend all my money on. I heard that Hello Kitty was going to team up with Swarovski crystals quite a few months ago from a friend that works at a Swarovski, and I’ve been waiting patiently to see the collection. It just came out this week and I just about oohed and ahhed over every single piece. I was also happy to see that a few of the jewelry items fall under the hundred dollar mark, so my wallet might not be crying too much.

Found this beautiful tribute to Amy Winehouse by artist Marie Meier

Even though I’m not going back to school, it doesn’t mean that I can’t check out all the back to school fashions coming out. For example I am just falling for this polka dot body con skirt from Forever 21+

Oh and here’s my jam for the week and possibly the summer
