Put a Bird on It

My new favorite trend right now is birds! Beautiful birds and feathers are everywhere right now, form jewelry to home decor, and they swooping into fashion big time. (
Sorry that will be my only bird pun, I promise!) I am definitely into this trend full force. I mean you can have a sad little tote bag, but once you put a bird on it, gasp “did you see that bag before!”

Here are some of my favorite bird items I’ve spotted.

Put a bird on it

Bird prints are perfect going into spring and summer. Plus it is a really easy trend to work with because it can be styled in so many different ways. Bird cage prints like the Torrid top and Asos and Lucie Lu dresses can be styled with pastels and light flower fabrics for a vintage romantic look. The Yours bird tops and anything with owls and be worn with more edgy or 70s inspired pieces for hipster, hippie, or rock festival trends. And take your peacock prints and anything with feathers and turn it into a sexy, tropical summer look.

How do you feel about birds, do you love it as much as I do or are you flying the coop on this trend (Sorry I know I had to!) I am currently redecorating my room with a bird cage print bed set and little birdie wall decals, and now I am looking for bird prints to add to my wardrobe. So I guess I am going in completely with this trend.

Also can’t go without posting this…

Do You Love Love?

People seem to get so up in arms about Valentine’s Day, I don’t really get it. Okay I know I have a boyfriend and I know that when you are single the day can be hard. But guess what? It’s just a day, a made up holiday at that. I say whether you are single or in a relationship don’t take it so seriously. If you are in relationship, try not to put too much pressure on yourself or your date. Cook your own dinner instead of going out or order a plain pizza and decorate with your own toppings in hearts or funny sayings. Buy a box of chocolates from the drugstore and eat them off of each other. Or just stay home and cuddle under a blanket. And if your single, use the day as an excuse to have a fun time with your friends. Get dressed up, go to a bar and hand out paper valentines to anyone you think is cute or looks lonely. Rent the sappiest, corniest movies you can find and pig out on ice cream and chocolate. Or have a sleepover like when you were kids, paint each others nails and play truth or dare. Just have fun with it!

Although I am not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, I just love everything that comes with it. All the pink and hearts and candy and cuteness; how can you not? Also now is the time when all of the really great corsets, lingerie, and hosiery starts coming out. I made a few Polyvore sets showcasing all of my favorite valentine’s Day outfits in red, black, and pink for whether you are going out or staying in (if you know what I mean, wink wink!)

So, I’m not going to lie, but I kind of want everything from Domino Dollhouse’s new lingerie line. Its just all of the perfect pin up sexiness I’ve been dreaming of. Unfortunately its not really in my budget right now, but a girl can dream, right?

Torrid and Cacique never seem to fail when it comes to lingerie for Valentine’s and this year is no exception. Torrid also has quite a few cute casual selection in their VDay lookbook including super cute print cardigans and lots of fun jewelry.

So what are your plans for Valentine’s Day, do you play it up whether you or single or not, or do you just ignore it completely?

OOTD Leftovers

I was going through some pictures and I found a few outfits that I forgot to post!

The first is from my Aunt and Uncle’s 50th anniversary party.

My uncle is very much into classic cars. He restored this one which is the exact same type and color car that he had when he was first dating my aunt, how romantic!

Belated Xmas Ootd and Contest Winner!

Eeep It’s already mid January and I still haven’t posted any holiday outfits. I am behind on the times. Well after I got back from my cruise I got really sick, so I decided to spend christmas day curled up in bed in my pjs hugging a kitty while my family went out. So the only christmas outfit I have is from a friend’s pot luck dinner from the beginning of the month.

Belt: NY & Company size XL
Tights: We Love Colors size c/d
Earrings: Lia Sophia
Necklaces: Sanrio and Lia Sophia
Bracelet: Gift from mom
Shoes: ShoeDazzle

Let’s start with this skirt; if I could, I would wear it everyday. I first saw this Miu Miu inspired skirt on tumblr and knew it had to be mine. Well I first saw these Miu Miu shoes and knew they had to be mine…but without the price tag.

So the skirt was a very happy alternative. After conversing with the owner of Prototype Designs I was able to get a skirt in my size and I was in love. It was well worth the wait. Seriously if you have not checked this shop out yet, do it now. Along with cats, there are birds, bows, polka dots, florals, scarves, and everything else you’ve been craving.

The shoes, called Aubrey, from ShoeDazzle are the highest heels I have ever owned. I hemmed and hawed over ordering them, but they are just so similar to Jeffrey Campbell’s Litas, I just couldn’t let them pass. I have to say the height wasn’t too bad. I don’t think I could wear them if I had to stand or walk for a very long time, but they were perfect for a dinner party. I got a lot of compliments too and a lot of “I could never wear such high heels.” Me neither lol, but the width of the heel and the platform helped a lot. And I got to be taller than everyone!

I am crazy about this outfit, I am crazy about this top, I am crazy about these shoes, I have been crazy about this jacket. I am crazy lol

Outfit Details
Top: Domino Dollhouse size 3x
Jacket: Torrid size 1
Pants: Source of Wisdom via Torrid size 18
Earring: Betsey Johnson via Ideeli
Necklace: Tarina Tarantino via Ebay
Shoes: Rhett via ShoeDazzle

This Cutie Doll top from Domino Dollhouse is one of my new favorite things in the world. It is exactly as its name describes it to be. It’s so fun and sexy too, since the ruffled lace bottom gives a little hint of skin without the full crop top effect. And of course lace and bows are like my two favorite things in the world. The back of the top is also all lace so you can show even more skin if you are feeling adventurous.

The only drawback is that since it is a juniors plus item it runs a little small. I got it in a 3x although I could have probably fit in the 2. So for those on the smaller end of plus I would definitely recommend it. It’s on clearance now so get it while you can!

Speaking of favorite things, I also have to brag about my necklace. I have been lusting after it for a few years now but the $2oo+ price tag was definetely a no-no. Somehow I managed to snag it on eBay for just $30! Epic Win! I don’t know if it fell off a truck or what, I don’t really care either, I am just happy to have it around my neck!

My Photo Shoot Experience

I’ve been neglecting my poor little bloggie lately oh no! Really I misplaced my memory card reader and couldn’t upload any pictures. But I am back now with more outfit of the day fun times for all!

Recently I told you about an exciting opportunity I had with Monif C. clothing. I was chosen along with two other girls for a customer makeover photo shoot. I won’t give too much away, the pictures should be up towards the end of November, but it was a lot of fun and so cool to be a part of. Each of us were asked to bring three outfits we would wear for on a first date, office holiday party, and our birthday. I was chosen to represent the first date outfit but they actually had me wear my birthday outfit. So I am going to share with you my original first date outfit.

Top: Torrid size 1
Pants: Tripp by Torrid size 18
Belt: NY & Company size XL
Necklace: Sanrio
Earrings: Lia Sophia
Bracelet: Gift from a friend
Shoes: Spunky from ShoeDazzle

This is really more one of my go to outfits for me rather than just a date outfit. I feel like it is sexy and flirty without being too provocative, just retro fun. The outfit you’ll see more wearing in the shoot is very similar to the one from this blog post.

Since I was representing the first date my Monif C. makeover outfit was more casual and was one of the wrap dresses. I was a little disappointed than I didn’t get to wear something from the holiday collection, because they are all so beautiful and glamorous, but I don’t think anything would have made sense for a first date look. But from the peak I did see of the photos they look amazing and I really can’t wait to see how everything came out.

Before taking our pictures I also got to watch what a real photoshoot looks like; model Denise Bidot was there taking pictures for the new collection. All I can say is wow, I felt bad because the whole time I was seriously just staring at her, one she is beyond beautiful in person, and two it was just amazing to watch her work. She needed no direction from the photographer, and it was really like she could see what each picture looks like in her head. She just looked absolutely flawless in each shoot, and it was incredible too watch.

The shoot was in the Empire State Building and had an amazing view. I tried to get a few shots.

Me and Monif!
