I haven’t been blogging lately because I’ve been taking a few fun vacations. First I visited St Louis with my boyfriend. It was during Mardi Gras and we had a lot of fun and indulged ourselves in drinking and debauchery. The Mardi Gras there is supposed to be the second biggest in the US after New Orleans, and although we missed the opening parade; the people of St Louis were incredibly friendly and welcoming and would invite you into just about any house party that was going on. We got funky hats and tons of bead, and no I didn’t flash anybody. Whenever someone would ask me to I would reply that it was too cold, then my bf would flash his chest lol!
We also saw the arch which was really cool. Going up inside it was a bit of a scary ride. You have to squish into these things called trams, which are more kind of like pod shaped elevators, while they take you up a long, creaky sounding ride. But the view from the top is definitely worth it.
The area of St Louis that we stayed in is called the Delmar Loop, it has a few attractions of its own like Blueberry Hill, a restaurant and theater where Chuck Berry often performs; but its main appeal to me was tons of shopping! It’s filled with a bunch of really cool and offbeat places to find just about anything you are looking for.
I bought these two cute little kitties from a store specializing in items from India and other eastern countries.
And I bought these super adorable hats of Luna from Sailor Moon and the Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro from an anime and comic book shop called Star Clipper
My boyfriend also got me some cool jewelry, a change purse, and an incense holder from a plow sharing craft store. But my best finds were at a vintage store called Avalon Exchange. Unlike the other vintage stores on the strip, they had a lot of options for plus sizes, including a bunch of stuff from torrid. I ended getting a pair of red and black leopard creepers by TUK, a pair of earrings that I’m pretty sure are from Betsey Johnson, a cute Hello Kitty necklace, a sweater dress from Torrid, and an awesome tiger print scarf.
